Black and White Photo Overlaid with Color Grid Lines Tricks Your Brain!!!

This article over at Petapixel shows a technique using a black and white photo with some precisely placed color grid lines into tricking your brain into filling in the remainder of the color.  Its a very unique technique and one that is coming to GIMP in the next release.  The author/creator of the technique Øyvind Kolås  took a creative commons photo and placed a few colored lines over a black and white photo.  Your brain sees these colored lines and then tries to fill in the rest of the color space for what you would assume would be the boundaries for that color, e.g. a shirt being blue, a face having a flesh tone, etc...   The cool thing is it also work on video! Check out the authors patreon site for that video goodness.

You can also follow me on the various social media sites, where I typically post tidbits, previews, and other items that might not encompass a full blog post or full length video. I also sometimes put up info on upcoming activities, live streaming events, Q & A's, or just the day to day musings! Thanks for stopping by!
