Black and White Photo Overlaid with Color Grid Lines Tricks Your Brain!!!

This article over at Petapixel shows a technique using a black and white photo with some precisely placed color grid lines into tricking your brain into filling in the remainder of the color.  Its a very unique technique and one that is coming to GIMP in the next release.  The author/creator of the technique Øyvind Kolås  took a creative commons photo and placed a few colored lines over a black and white photo.  Your brain sees these colored lines and then tries to fill in the rest of the color space for what you would assume would be the boundaries for that color, e.g. a shirt being blue, a face having a flesh tone, etc...   The cool thing is it also work on video! Check out the authors patreon site for that video goodness.

Aug 21st 2017 - North American Solar Eclipse Info!!!

With all the craziness that IS "eclipse madness"(said in Ren's voice from the "space madness" episode of Ren & Stimpy) e.g., overpriced hotels, and other accommodations, not to mention the unscrupulous vendors/people trying to cash in on selling "official" solar viewing glasses which are neither official or safe, two of the channels I follow have put out some great videos on the subject.

 Adorama, a photography store/educational channel on youtube and Scott Manley's youtube channel have posted the following videos, one on how to photograph the eclipse, and the other, what occurs if you don't follow the proper safety protocols, the kind of damage you can/will end up with.  Also, don't forget to follow and subscribe to each of their channels on youtube.
