Ok you can't actually fix your lens with the peanut butter itself, but the jar that it comes in! Casey Neistat was shooting one afternoon and the unthinkable happened, he dropped his camera. Judging by the video below, he had set his camera up in a precarious position, not even very high, and gravity won out and hit camera tumbled and smacked right on the edge of his lens. The result was a broken built in lens hood.
Now your average joe might panic, and send the lens in for some costly repair, but Casey decided to just head down to the local super market, grab an appropriate sized jar of peanut butter (and jelly in this case) and do a little diy and fixed his lenses lens hood.
The video is of how he created his new lens hood and the story of what happened. It's a nice little video and reminds us that, with a little know how and some tools, we can repair our equipment and save a little money in the process. Be sure to check out Casey's Youtube channel and subscribe if you like what you see there!
